Using
a low cost DVD player and a modern projector it is
possible to incorporate a vast number of backdrops
into a production, which can all be contained on a
single DVD disk. These backdrops can be static or animated
and can bring elements into
a scene which would otherwise be impractical. In fact,
there really are no limits to the illusions you can
create.
Of course, you do not need to restrict your imagination
to just backdrops. Projecting onto specific parts of
the scenery, props, or even actors, can be used to
great effect.
There are many options for incorporating a projector
and screen into a Theatre environment, either using
overhead projection, rear projection or even hiding
the projector somewhere within the scene (as used in
a touring production of The
Ghost Downstairs).
